The AKISAN LA Chapter organized a community outreach program to visit and support homeless people in the Los Angeles downtown area. Members came together to donate food and clothing to those in need, reflecting the chapter’s commitment to serving not just the Akwa Ibom community but the wider Los Angeles community.
The outreach was organized under the leadership of Dr. Tom Mbeke-Ekanem and saw strong turnout from chapter members, many of whom wore the official AKISAN LA white t-shirts in a show of community solidarity.
This activity reflects our chapter’s belief that community service extends beyond our ethnic boundaries — that as Akwa Ibomites in the diaspora, we have a responsibility to give back to the city that hosts us.
